A SPECIAL TOUCH FOR YOUR DRESSES THANKS TO ELASTIC CORDS

If you like sewing and you make your own dresses, surely you know the importance that elastic cords can have to create small details. The simplest example we have when creating the waist of the dresses. The elastic band sewn inside the fabric helps to gather it around the waist, making the dress adapt and take much more flight.

The rubber system at the waist has been used since always, because it allows you to take advantage of the dress whether you take a little weight or lose it, as they adapt to different waist sizes. For that reason, in many cases it is used in the maternity dresses, so that the woman can use it throughout the pregnancy or at least a large part of it.

The trick is not to over-tighten the rubber so that in the first months of pregnancy the dress is cut with a little ground and a lot of frowns and, as the months pass, each time will be more stuck at the waist and the fabric will expand to cover the tummy. It is important to note that elastic bands for pregnant women are much better in the area under the chest, since most find it uncomfortable to have anything that fits in the gut.

Elastic bands are also used in the sleeves of the clothes so that the fabric fits the arm or wrist. The puffed sleeves, for example, need those rubber bands inside the fabric to be perfectly adapted to the arm. It is important that they do not squeeze at any time, as they could cut off circulation.

When using elastic tape for the waist of a skirt it is very important that it is very wide, since otherwise it will not only be annoying, but it will not sit well on the body. When the elastic band is wide it is much more similar to the cloth waist and therefore more flattering.

The elastics can also be used on the neckline of the dresses to achieve a very flattering effect, since it allows to play with the raised neckline, the shoulders to the air or even create a strapless neckline without having to change dress or shirt.
